The Energizer Boy

As I've mentioned before, Ben loves to walk around outside and thankfully the weather has been very spring-like so we've been able to spend some time outdoors. It sure is nice getting a good amount of fresh air after a long winter and it's an extra perk letting Ben burn some extra energy. This boy can walk countless circles around our condo without stopping for a break! I tell you what... it makes me very thankful that he hasn't quite figured out the running thing yet, although, I know it's just around the corner. I'm partly joking (though mostly not) when I say that I'll have to get a leash for him once he figures it out because it could be quite impossible for me to catch him being that I'm over 6 months pregnant and have a bad knee. Anyway, here are some photos (compliments of Catherine) of an afternoon spent outside last week with some friends. It was a day of many firsts: he played in the mud, drew on the sidewalk with chalk, discovered the taste of chalk, and threw rocks. What fun!

The Good Housekeeper... ha, ha ha!

Lately, I've been neglecting my household duties (laundry, dishes, basic cleaning, etc.) to fulfill my own personal desire to sew. I've completed various projects such as a few baby skirts, wallets, and am working on a crib sheet for our new baby boy. I'm pretty excited about the baby skirts because they're so easy and cute to boot. Here's a picture of one I made for Maggie today. She has a pair of little red cowboy boots to wear with it - quite the stylin' girl let me tell you.

Well, I suppose I should go and do some of that cleaning I've been putting off all week. By the way, I might put in a little note that my husband has been super patient with all my messes - I think he loves me or something.

What a Mess!

So a couple weeks ago I wrote out a detailed story about Ben and this wonderful mess he had made (it was a great story let me tell you), but before I knew it the internet ate it up not leaving a single crumb behind and I was not about to try to whip up another batch. Talk about frustrating!

In any case, here are some pictures of Ben having some fun in the kitchen. The trail of cereal crumbs isn't real noticeable in these photos but believe me when I say... they were EVERYWHERE!

Oh the luxuries of childhood - wish I could still make messes like that and have other people clean up after me.

Playing in the snow

The other day as we were coming home from shopping, Ben and I noticed Catherine outside playing with the kids. As we walked over to say "hi" she was so kind as to say that she'd keep an eye on Ben for me so I could unload my two tons of groceries... Needless to say I gladly took her up on the offer! Ben loves walking around outside without assistance as it gives him a whole new level of exploration so he loved it as much as I did... probably more. In any case, here are some fun pictures of the two bugger-nosed babes playing in the snow.

Appreciating God's Creation

A couple of cold mornings ago I went outside to let our car warm up and as soon as I stepped out of the door was welcomed by a beautiful unusual thing. There were little ice crystals sticking up all over the side of the house, the railing, and the stairway looking like mini swords that were prepared for battle. Yes, I know this is a simple thing, but it's not normal for us to get ice crystals like this, and besides, aren't the simplest things in this world the most beautiful? I couldn't help but take a few pictures of these soldiers to share with you.

Let's Get Going!

Ben's new thing lately has been bringing Brian and I our shoes. The only problem is that he often gets them mixed up and brings me Brian's shoes, etc. I think it's his way of letting us know he's ready to get going... somewhere... anywhere. He will also bring me his coat when he really wants to go outside. Here's a picture of Ben with shoe in hand letting us know he's ready to go to church. By the way, his two new words are "a bath" and "apple". Although the untrained ear probably wouldn't recognized them as such. It's pretty exciting watching him change and grow right before your eyes!
